Centrelink Payments Increase from July 2025

From 1 July 2025, Centrelink has announced increases to key payments including the Age Pension, Disability Support Pension, and Carer Payment. These changes are designed to help older Australians and people with disabilities manage the rising cost of living.

Payments will increase by up to $19.60 per fortnight, depending on the type of allowance. At the same time, income and asset thresholds have also been adjusted, allowing more people to qualify for support.

📌 If you receive government benefits, you may notice a higher payment in your next fortnightly deposit.

📰 Seniors and Disability Welfare Debt Waiver

The Australian Government has announced it will waive more than 1.2 million old welfare debts, many of which came from historical Centrelink errors. This includes debts as small as $250, which will now be cancelled automatically.

In addition, around 3 million Australians affected by unlawful debt calculations between 2003 and 2020 will be eligible for a compensation payment of up to $600. This measure aims to restore fairness and provide relief to older people and people with disabilities who were impacted.

📌 If you believe you may be eligible, more information is available through Services Australia.
